The aim of the Protocol is to explain the Council’s procedure for dealing with proposals by 3rd parties to install statues and monuments in Cardiff.
Each year, the Council receives enquiries from people and organisations seeking to commemorate individuals, groups and historical events in Cardiff. Regrettably, it is not possible to accommodate all of these requests. Suitable sites are limited and the requirements of individual proposals have to be carefully considered with the characteristics of potential locations.
The protocol identifies: the timescales and processes that should be considered with regard to obtaining permission, the costs involved in design / installation and that these costs, together with those for future management and maintenance will be expected to be borne by the applicant.
