Rapid Housing Transition Plan

In accordance with the Welsh Government’s initiative to move towards a Rapid Rehousing model within homelessness services, each local authority in Wales must develop a transition plan outlining how the authority intends to transition towards the new strategy.

The key goals of Welsh Government are to make homelessness rare, brief and unrepeated. This plan will outline Cardiff’s Rapid Rehousing strategy to meet this vision.

Rapid Rehousing will be based upon a systematic approach to understand what housing is needed, how it will be funded and finally allocated. To support this strategy, this plan will provide contextual and background information on Cardiff’s current housing situation, outlining gaps in housing needs, provide an overview of general housing stock in the city and a breakdown of what this stock consists of to identify any shortfall in demand.

Alongside this information, demand on homelessness services and future expected demands will be determined in this plan to better understand what will be required from the Local Authority in order to deliver upon its key goals.

This plan will cover the transition to Rapid Rehousing 2022 – 2027.
