Proposal of a Regional Approach to Employability

The Council’s Into Work Advice Service is predominantly funded through the European Social Fund, which support the most vulnerable in society to move closer to employment and find sustainable work.

With the UK now having left the EU, the European Social Funding (ESF) will no longer be available for employability support.

It is not yet known whether the UK Government’s replacement for EU funds (Shared Prosperity Fund) will support employability activity or whether this will continue to be separated into objective-led projects, nor is the amount of any funding known at this stage.

In advance of any funding bids to the Shared Prosperity Fund, the 10 Capital City Region Local Authorities have sought to create a single, clear, consistent framework for future employability programmes in the region.
