The Council has a requirement under legislation to manage landfill gas from the landfill sites and the contract will manage this requirement on our behalf. This includes the managing of landfill gas following any economical return by generating electricity.
A new contract and lease is required following current landfill gas lease at Lamby way which has been in place since December 1997 (and which was subsequently extended with effect from December 2014).
Heads of Terms have been agreed with Infinis trading as Novera Energy Generation No.2 Limited.
A contract and lease has been drafted and Officers seek approval from Cabinet to conclude arrangements.
