Purpose:

On 29th November 2018 the Council resolved to undertake a consultation exercise on the application of a council tax premium on long term empty dwellings. This consultation exercise is due to finish during January 2019. 

The purpose of the report is to consider the results of the consultation exercise and inform the final decision that will be made by the Council.   

Decision:

RESOLVED: that Council be recommended to agree with effect from 1st April 2019 a 50% council tax premium is applied to long term empty dwellings that have been unoccupied and substantially unfurnished for a period of 12 months or more.
