Under Section 84 of the School Standards and Organisation (Wales) Act 2013, local authorities must produce a Welsh in Education Strategic Plan (WESP) to provide strategic direction for the planning and delivery of Welsh-medium and Welsh-language education.

RESOLVED: that the Cardiff Council WESP 2017-202 be approved for implementation from 1^st April 2017.

The WESP has been published for public consultation for a statutory period of 8 weeks.

Prior to the consultation period, key external partners were consulted including Welsh Head Teachers, school Governing Bodies, Central South Consortium, Welsh Education Forum including RhAG and Mudiad Meithrin, Welsh Government , Family Information Service and Flying Start.
